Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Journal Entries

Another week went by on the island of Game Room. I didn’t do anything too major, but I did spend some time on the island at night rather than early morning.

I did manage to catch a few new bugs. More exhibits for the museum! A few more got away though. And one of the ones I am trying to catch – the Scorpion – I haven’t seen since the one I saw in December.

But playing at night has let me spend a bit more time not only on my island. It’s been weeks since I went on a trip with Kapp’n, let alone use a Nook Miles Ticket!

Second time I have seen this bug, but still haven’t caught one

I did laugh at something during the week. One of the new bugs I have collected was a flea. Rosie, one of my villagers, was complaining of itching.

That wasn’t something I had seen before. I am used to villagers running up to me to talk, but not itching. There were little marks coming off her as well.

After running around trying to catch a cicada, I walked up to her to talk. I accidentally hit her with my bug net, which let me catch the flea. So I know what’s happening when someone is itchy now!

But the island is tidy! I haven’t neglected Game Room that much!

The next day, Rosie informed me she was leaving Game Room. She said it was to be a superstar elsewhere, but I can’t help but think it’s to avoid fleas! 😜

I have been putting in the effort to talk to my villagers, and they have seemed happier. I need to sit down for an afternoon and chill around my island still.

Not this weekend though. But soon.

My plans for tidying up my island of Game Room took a bit of a turn last week. Sifu ended up taking a lot more of my time than I thought it would!

I have been pottering away at Animal Crossing New Horizons a little bit each morning still. Not too much has changed. Some dice to roll in the games area, there was a meteor shower, and Stitches is now living on Game Room.

Stitches has me in two minds. On the one hand, a joyful talking stuffed animal is cute to see around. On the other, it’s a sentient toy animal – the stuff of horror movies!

Stitches is cute – I just don’t trust him!

Animal Crossing New Horizons isn’t a game where an islander turns evil and goes on a crime spree. But with islanders appearing at your house, the idea is there for shenanigans!

There was also a bug off last week, but I put very minimal effort into it. End of the week, I was super tired and Saturdays are games day with Alpal again.

One seasonal Bug-Off event to go!

It’s gotten to the point again where I don’t know what is going to happen in the game. I enjoy the morning potter, but I am reaching for other games to chill with at night.

I still want to explore the Happy Home Paradise DLC, but it’s been weeks and I haven’t started. There is no inclination to stop playing, but neither is there an incentive to play more.

Interesting times in Game Room indeed!

Animal Crossing New Horizons. I have been pottering away every morning at it, and then not going back to it at all. This isn’t a bad state to be in, but I am never going to clean my island this way!

There is also the activities and specials that come up. For example, there is the New Horizons version of Carnival / Mardi Gras coming on Monday. This Festivale should be fun, and I haven’t seen any to date.

But will I be able to see what is happening for Festivale in 20 minutes while I do everything else?

The events are usually something that put a smile on my face, but take time I don’t always have

Running around and completing a few tasks in the morning is a great way to stay in the game. It doesn’t let me progress the way I want though.

I have been making some progress though. I have been able to donate some items to the museum, especially art. I got a strange sense of accomplishment making a few recipes that I hadn’t made before.

I need to get mushrooms to make a heap of recipes

Cooking is not something I enjoy in real life. My specialties are meat and veg, jaffles and sometimes pasta. Ticking off that you have made a recipe in Animal Crossing New Horizons is nice though.

Saturday is still raining steadily here. Such a great day to sit on the couch with the Switch and finally do the clean up I have been putting off.

Here’s the thing. If I deep down wanted to clean Game Room, I wouldn’t be playing Burnout Legends on the couch. But I don’t want to miss playing Animal Crossing New Horizons each morning still.

Do I play Animal Crossing because I am still enjoying it, or am I playing because it’s part of my morning schedule? That’s a philosophy question worthy of Pascal!
