Board Game Journal – March 27 2023

It’s a super short journal again this week. I was hoping to play a whole bunch of games during the week, but being super tired and the release of Resident Evil 4 stopped that in its tracks!

Also, not in this journal, I have started another game of Paperback Adventures on my Steam Deck after upgrading the SSD, but I have hit a snag. Everything I had already unlocked has gone! That’s something to investigate, and I will talk more about that next week.

But this week, I got to introduce Rabbit to Targi!

Targi

Last weekend our normal Board Game Arena day got postponed, so I took the chance to teach Rabbit Targi! We were both pretty tired after a long week, but Rabbit let me give her the short (read: 10 min) explanation of Targi’s rules, and then we went for it.

Even though I picked up the physical copy of Targi and the expansion, we still played on Board Game Arena. This was for a very good reason – Board Game Arena doesn’t let you play illegal moves!

So Rabbit has been shown Targi, and is willing to give it another go. The issue with Targi is one shared by a lot of Euro games – no one rule is difficult, but there is a lot to keep in mind.

The good news is only one or two more games on Board Game Arena, I will be open to playing on the table. My issue with playing Targi physically at the moment is making sure I have all the rules down. Board Game Arena helps cement this in my mind.

What about you?  I hope you got some great games in.  Or are you looking forward to a new one?  Let me know!
