I am taking a break for the rest of the month
You may have noticed with the last couple of Last Week’s Gaming, my available downtime has taken quite a hit lately. Short version – I am well overdue a break, and need some time off.
Burnout is real, and I am staring at a point of no return. So rather than keep pushing myself to write ‘something’ each week, I am just going to relax for a bit.
We all know the feeling. You get past the big push and sorely underestimate how much recovery time you needed to get back on track. I have been in total denial about how overworked and stressed I have been, adding to the problem. So, break it is!
Overall I will be fine, and Last Week’s Gaming will come back in August along with August Highlights. But for the next couple of weeks, I am going to work, sleep and do what I feel like doing (which at the moment is sleep).
I will also get my exercise routine back on track, combining the elliptical, VR and the new Witcher: Monster Slayer. That’s going to be an August article as well!
During my break, I am going to spend a couple of weeks looking after me, then return to looking after the site.
In a couple of weeks, I hope to spend a couple of days getting my video setup back to scratch. The end goal – doing long play videos. I don’t know about streaming live yet. I don’t want to stop/start streaming times, and it will be easier to pre-record games and release new episodes.
I have my new consoles and PC recording doing OK, but I also want to do some retro game recording. Surprisingly, this is giving me the most headaches! But it’s getting there, so hopefully, this will be a lot of fun.
By the time you are reading this, my break would have already started. I would have already had my first proper weekend off rather trying to just recharge. Rabbit and I will have had our second Covid vaccinations, and depending on how we felt after, had another fun catch-up with Alpal and everyone.
Keep an eye on my Instagram for more updates on Enzo, Fitz and Harry, as well as anything else I might spontaneously share during the downtime.
But until then, I hope you are taking care of yourself and enjoying your time as much as possible.
