I have been waiting to get my hands on the latest Downforce expansion, and last month I got my hands on Downforce: Wild Ride! Adding two new maps that take the F1 premise and adding some fun silliness helps keep the theme alive.

When Restoration Games asked what games you wanted to see, Fireball Island was the clear winner. After months of “We want to, but we can’t!”, the team happily announced they not only could but it would be coming to Kickstarter. And now, it’s on my table.
Almost 2 years ago, I backed a Kickstarter from a startup company called Restoration Games. The idea was cool – can you modernise an old classic? Well, they have proven that answer a few times. And Stop Thief! was a great game in the day, and they have updated it to still be a great game today.
More of a good thing is something everyone wants. And with Downforce: Danger Circuit, Restoration Games has provided exactly that. If you weren’t a fan of Downforce, Danger Circuit won’t change your mind. But if you did enjoy Downforce, well then have I got an expansion for you!
One of Restoration Games initial releases, Downforce is a new streamlined version of 1996’s Top Race. And even if you don’t like racing games, Downforce may get you hooked in.
I enjoy almost everything from Restoration Games to date. Stop Thief and Downforce are great games that are still fun. Their latest Kickstarter Fireball Island was a great success. But their latest project takes on 1981’s Dark Tower, and I can’t wait to see what they do with it. Currently being designed by Rob Daviau and Isaac Childers, Return to Dark Castle is slated for a Kickstarter release in 2020.
So there are two new games out this week that I have my eye on – the Kickstarter Fireball Island from Restoration Games, and Plaid Hats Starship Samurai. Today I go through some of my thoughts on how the released game rules will influence my decision to buy.
Can’t even slowly slide into the month! For the start of April Kickstarter list, two active projects and one starting tomorrow have caught my eye.
Fireball Island is one of those classic 80’s games like Mousetrap – lots of fun stuff to play with, but not necessarily fun to play. The crew at Restoration Games are looking to correct this come April 3rd.
