Welcome to JohnHQLD.com! Thank you so much for checking it out. I’m John, and this is my site. Mainly I will be talking about things that catch my interest, primarily in gaming but sometimes in other fields as well. If there is anything you would like to discuss or would like my thoughts on, leave me a note on the Facebook page
or comment here with Disqus!
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy the site 😀
Sea of Thieves showed me just how effective Microsoft’s current marketing campaign truly is. How else would you think $750 for a new game is a good deal?
Splendor is a game that came out and grabbed a large portion of the gaming world by storm. It is simple, addictive, and while the mechanics are identical no game plays the same way twice.
Shadowrun: Crossfire was not a necessarily a bad game, but it was an overly long and grinding one. Can the Dungeons and Dragons retheme and some tweaks help the deckbuilding campaign? Dragonfire seeks to find out.
Fireball Island is one of those classic 80’s games like Mousetrap – lots of fun stuff to play with, but not necessarily fun to play. The crew at Restoration Games are looking to correct this come April 3rd.
The first Zombicide was a lot of fun. Then the expansion creep started setting in. Black Plague to a point fixed a lot of issues, but I ignored the Green Horde. Can I really drum up the enthusiasm for Zombicide: Invader?
Secret Unknown Stuff: Escape from Dulce is going strong on Kickstarter, and they are doing a live playthrough in conjunction with the Unfiltered Gamer about 1pm Thursday QLD time!
A few years ago, Martin Wallace made a very interesting game based on Neil Gaiman’s A Study in Emerald. Within 48 hours, a continuation of that world is being released on Kickstarter in the form of AuZtralia.
Welcome to the second episode of JohnHQLD Blatherings! This episode I share my history with Android Netrunner and describe why it’s my favourite game that I probably won’t play anymore.
Promotional cards and expansion content is great to help promote a game and change up an old favourite but can be hard to get for the rest of the world. Z-Man Games is offering their mini expansions directly from their website, for those of us that can’t get to the big conventions 🙂
Do you remember the last time you could open a new dungeon crawler and jump straight into playing it? Neither does Sentient Cow Games apparently. Secret Unknown Stuff: Escape from Dulce is a fun sci-fi parody adventure on Kickstarter now.
