In Roll Player, you will compete to create the greatest fantasy adventurer who has ever lived, preparing your character to embark on an epic quest. Roll and draft dice to build up your character’s attributes.
Purchase weapons and armor to outfit your hero. Train to gain skills and discover your hero’s traits to prepare them for their journey. Earn Reputation Stars by constructing the perfect character.
The player with the greatest Reputation wins the game and will surely triumph over whatever nefarious plot lies ahead!
It was another pretty light-board game week this week. I did notice that Roll Player had an update, but there isn’t anything too exciting added this round.
There are a couple of nice quality of life improvements like AI skill level saved between games. Pass and Play has now been renamed to Local Game. My favourite one is adding a note to the bottom of class cards describing what certain attribute actions are.

Other than that, there were a couple of fringe bug fixes that I never encountered. It’s always nice to see game-breaking bugs squashed.
So a couple more rounds of Roll Player is always a nice thing. It had been a while, and Cartographers on my phone had ended up taking over my quick digital board game fix. Maybe when Roll Player leaves Early Access, a phone version could be on the cards?
I managed a couple of fun rounds this week

It was late in the day, and I wanted to finish with a game I hadn’t played in a while. Even though I hit Cartographers pretty frequently on mobile, I wanted something different. So staying within the universe, I fired up Roll Player.
This entry is super brief, as talking about playing Roll Player sounds boring. I was having fun and played a couple of rounds. Playing solo, really all I am trying to do is beat my high score.
Because they are randomly drawn, background goals can be interesting
Roll Player has a score ranking, where scoring 38+ points is the highest level. I have been so tantalisingly close many times, my hope is to break my 37 high at some point.
One day, I will break that ceiling. This week though, I didn’t even match it! I will have to try Roll Player again a bit later.
