Istanbul is a game that I enjoy, but don’t get to the table often. In fact, it’s so rare, I can’t find Istanbul the Board Game in my library, only the Dice game! But the last few weeks after trying the Digital Edition, my love for Istanbul the Board game has been rekindled to the point it’s almost my default laptop game while recovering at night!
So Wednesday I mentioned Castles of Mad King Ludwig Collector’s Edition is on Kickstarter next week. Today I review the original game to give you an idea of if you may be interested! This Bezier Games staple is a lot of fun, but it’s not for everyone. It’s not as hard to get your head around as you may think though!
At home escape room games have blown up in popularity this year for obvious reasons. Narrative adventure games have generally been popular as well. But how can you get the best of both worlds without the story feeling forced? Fit it into a theme that already integrates the two! Scooby-Doo! Escape from the Haunted Mansion has jumped to the top of two genres of game styles for me, come in and see why.
As I wrote last week, I was really excited Blood Rage was getting a digital implemntation. After having a few games up my sleeve both physical and digital, I thought it was time for a full review. At it’s heart, Blood Rage has been faithfully translated from it’s physical form.
But be warned – if you are playing solo, there are some quirks for the developers to sort out still. If you are playing multiplayer, there are many more severe issues to be sorted.
Another week down, and I don’t know where it went. One thing that I did enjoy was trying out Dragon Castle during the week thanks to a Steam sale. A great game for a fun conversation and hidden depths, the Mahjong Solitaire inspired Dragon Castle is a game that can be easily overlooked. It’s a pity, because I think a lot of players that would pass on it would find a very entertaining title.
Have a great weekend everyone!
There are games that are fun to just sit and play. Sometimes they are innocent fun, sometimes the subject matter can get downright adult. Billionaire Banshee dips it’s toes in the latter, but is still a great game if you want to quickly break the ice with new players.
Once all this is over, we might need a few icebreaker games to get to know people again!
Sometimes you just want a fun game that doesn’t take much brain power. These games should be quick and fun, but can also add twists that keep things interesting.
Boom, Bang, Gold! Delivers on this in spades. While not a game I would build a collection around, it is a versatile solution to many existing libraries.
